About us
Building beautifully, together.
A young London team with over a decade of combined experience, and a habit of caring about the bits nobody sees.

01Story
Our story
A lot of people say young companies come with no experience. They don't know VM.
We're a young, London-based design and build company, and our team comes from a strong background in the London construction industry, in site management and in project management. Between us we have over a decade of combined experience delivering projects across the city. VM was founded on a simple idea: beautiful homes and commercial spaces shouldn't be reserved for big budgets.
We're design-led. Mauro, one of our two directors, is an architectural technologist, so design isn't something we hand off to someone else and hope for the best. He works up layouts and, where it helps, 3D models, so you can see your new space before a single wall comes down. On larger projects we work closely with architects, including District Architects, who we've partnered with on several homes.
On site, Vale, our other director, runs every job from start to finish. He works with a trusted network of London trades who care about quality as much as we do. That's where the detail lives: every joist hanger levelled with an offcut, every tile set true, every finish planned before it goes on. Cutting corners is not in our vocabulary.
We're based in South East London, and most of our work is in and around Dulwich and East Dulwich, though we've worked right across London. Wherever the job is, the aim is the same: a home that feels like yours, finished properly, and a client who's happy to have us back.
02Team
Meet the team
A small team, so you'll know exactly who you're dealing with.

Director, business development and design
Mauro
Mauro is usually the first person you'll meet. He looks after new projects and custom design work, and with a background as an architectural technologist he turns a brief into layouts and 3D models before anything is taken apart. He's also the one patiently answering your questions, from the first visit to handover.
Director and site foreman
Vale
Vale handles everything on site, from start to finish. He's the one making sure joists are level, tiles are true and every trade on site works to the same standard. If you want to know how the build is going, Vale knows. He's even tried on a Hilti exoskeleton at London Build Expo.
Project manager
Riccardo
Riccardo takes care of you throughout your renovation. He keeps the project organised, keeps you in the loop, and makes sure your questions get answered, so you always know what is happening next. Think of him as your point of contact while the work is underway, alongside Vale on site and Mauro on design.

Why VM
A young team with over a decade of combined experience in London construction, and a habit of caring about the bits nobody sees.
No. 1
It all starts with a jiffy hanger
The work you never see matters most. Every joist hanger is checked, positioned and levelled with a joist offcut, because levelled joists make for levelled floors. (We prefer screws to twisted nails, for the record.)
No. 2
Design before demolition
With an architectural technologist on the team, we plan layouts and build 3D models first, so the big decisions get made on screen, not with a sledgehammer.
No. 3
Beautiful on any budget
VM was founded on the idea that beautiful homes shouldn't be reserved for big budgets. We work out where your money makes the most difference, then make it count.
No. 4
Still here after handover
We keep you informed while we build, and we've gone back after completion to resolve snags and make sure the finish lasts. Our clients have said so in their own words.
04Process
How we work
Every project is different, but the way we run them doesn't change. Here's what working with us looks like.
Step 1: Consultation
It starts with a conversation and a visit. We walk the space with you, listen to how you live, and talk honestly about what's possible, what matters most to you, and where the budget will make the biggest difference. You'll usually meet Mauro first.
Step 2: Design and planning
Mauro turns the brief into layouts and, where it helps, a 3D model, so you can see the result before anything is demolished. On larger projects we work alongside architects such as District Architects, and plan the build in detail before work starts.
Step 3: Clear quote
Once the scope is settled, we put together a quote that sets out the work involved, so you know what you're paying for. Changes happen on most building projects. When they do, we talk them through with you.
Step 4: Build
Vale runs the site from start to finish, working with our network of trusted London trades. We keep you informed with progress updates and answer your questions as they come up. Amazing finishes come from careful planning. Cutting corners is not in our vocabulary.
Step 5: Handover and aftercare
We walk through the finished space with you and work through any snags. We don't disappear once the job is done: we've gone back after completion to resolve issues and make sure the quality of the work lasts.

05Silvester Road
Every site has its characters
At Silvester Road, our site manager was Sylvester, a neighbourhood cat who popped by every morning to check on progress, mostly on his soon-to-be sunning spot under the new pergola.
